About Base Protocol
Introduction
Base Protocol is a Web3 social graph based on the Proof-of-Stake blockchain. Its goal is to allow creators to own their connection to the community and create a custom social graph that can be fully composed. The protocol is built from the ground up with modularity in mind so new features and fixes can be added while ensuring immutable user-owned content and social relationships.
Highlights
Base Protocol aims to solve the main problems in existing social media networks. Namely, the Web2 network reads all data from its exclusive centralized database. There is no portability. Your profile, friends, and content are associated with a particular network and are owned by the network operator. This results in every network playing a zero-sum game to get your attention.
The Base Protocol rectifies this by being an open, proprietary social graph that any application can connect to. Since users own their data, they can bring it into any application built on top of the Base Protocol. As true content owners, creators no longer need to worry about losing content, audiences, and livelihoods to the vagaries of individual platform algorithms and policies. Additionally, the entire ecosystem benefits from every application that uses the Base Protocol, turning a zero-sum game into a collaborative one. Developers can design meaningful social experiences without resorting to feedback mechanisms to grab/lock users' attention.
